Mentoring is an effective way to promote employee growth and development and is an effective method for accelerating learning, fast-tracking leadership, improving retention, elevating morale, strengthening recruitment and promoting diversity. Managers who want to mentor their employees need to understand the key components of mentoring and how mentoring differ from coaching and other supervisory activities. Mentors need to enhance their personal mentoring skills in order to achieve the best results with their staff.

By the end of this workshop, participants will:

• Learn different learning styles of the mentee so as to select the approach or activity that can maximize the mentee's learning
• Learn an influence model for mentoring situations
• Access which styles they use, overuse or avoid
• Identify and overcome common barriers and resistance to learning
• Use different approaches to transfer the technical skills and knowledge to the mentee
